History Of Carson Roots & Shoots

Roots & Shoots is the Jane Goodall Institute’s global, environmental and humanitarian program for youth. Members of this club participate in activities and service projects that promote care and concern for animals, the environment, and the human community.

The Carson’s Roots & Shoots club was founded two years ago by Hengameh Hoseini and Tiffany Tong with the support of Ms. Walton. They went to listen to Dr. Goodall speaking at UBC and got inspired by her sincere and caring attitude to all of the living things on planet. Till today the club was operated by the active and socially responsible students and our amazing sponsor teacher, Ms. Walton. From the very day the club was founded it immediately became an irreplaceable part of the student’s life. Under our belt there are such great projects as 30 Hour Famine, Million of Faces Campaign, Adopt a Highway project and many other activities.

This year the club keeps on developing and our members generate more and more ideas for new and interesting projects. In the closest future we are planning to organize the Community dinner, Halloween Candy Drive, Gulu walk, Animal adoption and Pet treat projects.

Carson Roots & Shoots club meets every week on Tuesdays and also there is a leadership meeting on Thursdays for those members who are eager to run their own projects. Also special thanks to Ms. Walton, our sponsor teacher who is very supportive of our ideas and helpful in project and meeting organization.
